I think that Dunkin Donuts does an amazing job at creating a “tribe” of customers. Their iconic Dunkin’ Donuts symbol and tagline of “America Runs On Dunkin” can be seen anywhere you go in the US.

They also use some specific marketing tools very well. The Dunkin App is an amazing loyalty program where customers earn points by spending money in stores around the country. These points can be redeemed for free beverages. Not only that, Dunkin sends special deals and perks to loyalty members to give them bonus points for ordering certain items on the menu or specific new items that they want the customers to try. They also send a free beverage offer every year on every customer’s birthday. This draws in customers and makes them a part of the Dunkin group —people who want to spend only at Dunkin so they can earn their rewards and free drinks.

Dunkin also emphasized its mobile ordering option where a customer can skip the lines and pick up their food as soon as its ready — all by just ordering on their phone. In addition to the offers in the app itself, Dunkin will periodically send special offers by email to customers, retaining their interest even if they are not logging onto the app.
